About this activity
Leave your central Abu Dhabi hotel by private, air-conditioned 4x4 and enjoy the desert views as you travel away from the city. As your guide drives, hear fascinating facts about the desert geology and some of the age-old Arabic customs that are still held dear in the UAE.
Watch as the desert terrain changes to rolling dunes, and arrive at your dinner setting, a tranquil spot in a desert compound, nestled in the sands. Refresh yourself with an Arabic coffee and fresh dates, and take a 4x4 dune drive in a convoy of others. Hold tight as your driver navigates up and down the sandy slopes, and stop several times to take photos of the dunes stretching around you.
Stop at a camel farm and view the hardy creatures close-up. Then, take a short camel ride for two as the sun sets over the desert and casts the dunes in a kaleidoscope of color.
Return to the desert compound as dusk falls and the flame torches flicker into life. Then, relax over your dinner at a table for two, complete with a bottle of red or white wine, soda and mineral water. Dishes vary, but your meal will include Arabic meze and specialities such as shish taouk (marinated chicken skewers) cooked on the barbecue. Read on for a sample menu.
After dinner, return to Abu Dhabi where your experience ends.
