Sabarmati Ashram is the ones that was built for Mahatma Gandhi and now is a national pilgrimage place for many. This is one of the foremost tourist attractions of the city because here you will experience solitude with shady trees all over and hundreds of parakeets. Sun birds, Squirrels, bee eaters etc. this ashram was found in 1915 during the time Gandhi struggled for Indian independence and it is also till date that Khadi is being made here. This place also has a pictorial museum of a few significant and major events in the life of this fighter.

Jama Masjid built by Ahmad Shah in 1423, is said to be the principal mosque that exists of the Islamic era. Situated in the heart of this city the mosque is said to be built in the Indo- Saracenic architectural era which has gained the title of the most splendid mosque in the East. This mosque has approximately 260 pillars which support 15 domes that are arranged symmetrically. A very special trait of the mosque is the Muluk-Khana also called as the Royal Gallery is beautifully stone worked platform that stands on the pillars and is enclosed up to the roof.

Hatheesingh Jain Temple was built just outside the Delhi Gate by a rich Jain Merchant in 1850. Amongst the many Ahmedabad’s ornate Jain Temples this is the best known. Built up of pure white marble and beautifully decorated rich carvings this temple is a two storied structure. It has elaborate porches on its three sides and the front porch is crowned by a huge dome. The Hathee Singh Temple is dedicated to Dharamanath.

Rani Rupmati’s Mosque is also one worth visiting place. The Masjid named after the princess of Dhar got married Sultan of Ahmedabad. A high central arch, carved galleries, slim minarets, 3 imposing domes, and an exquisite Mihrab are the high points. The shaking minarets, Calico Museum, Modhera Temple are also a few other sight seeing places that you can have a look at while you are in the city.
