About this activity
Get an early start at 5:30am when your guide picks you up at your hotel in Agra. Drive for 1.5 hours to reach the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur. Tour the sanctuary to observe a variety of bird life, such as the open-bill and painted stork, egret, cranes, cormorants, grey heron, rosy pelicans, and the rare Siberian crane. You can take a rickshaw ride through the sanctuary to look for the birds in comfort. Around 1pm, head to a local restaurant for a buffet lunch. Then make the 30-minute drive to Fatehpur Sikri, a well-preserved walled city that dates to the late 16th century. Featuring a number of elegant buildings, the fortified city was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar only to be abandoned after just 14 years. Return to Agra by 4:30pm and have time to go shopping for handicrafts such as marble and leather goods. Afterward, your tour ends with drop-off at your Agra hotel or railway station.
