About this activity
Visit: Cromhout House, Herengracht 366-368, 1016 CH Amsterdam The Netherlands

In one of Amsterdam's most beautiful canal houses, the Cromhouthuis, you meet six extraordinary collectors. Over the years, they or their descendants have donated their diverse collections to the city of Amsterdam.

The Cromhout House is the House of collectors. Walking through the building you will hear the story behind the various collectors via an audio tour. Their stories, full of ups and downs, and their influence on the city are told and watched by the visitor in a spectacular setting.

The Cromhout family, who lived here for almost two hundred years, formed the basis of what we now consider to be World Heritage: the Canal Belt! They were also important art collectors. The Cromhout House is therefore the ideal place to show the special visual ensemble of collections of works of art, furniture, silver and paintings.
