This museum in Amsterdam, accessible from the central train station and from the city, is called the Museum Our Lord in the Attic. It is a canal house-museum known for the unique 17th century chapel built on the structure's top three floors.

A small treasure in the center of Amsterdam, this museum gives visitors the opportunity to discover the Dutch Golden Age in a new and unique way. In this original and typical 17th century house, the church in the ‘attic’ was built in the time of the Reformation when Catholics were forbidden to hold public services. The chapel is being refurbished to return to its original layout, taking out the museum exhibitions and leaving it the way it was originally built.

Visiting the Museum

Following the recent museum renovations many of the 17th century paintings were removed but have now mostly returned to their original place. It is one of the city’s oldest museums along with the Rijksmuseum and is found at the center of the well-known red-light district of Amsterdam. Visitors can also get an audio guide once there (included in this ticket) to explain more in depth the history of the house, church and the Golden Age of Holland.
