It was ordered by Hatshepsut, the female pharaoh (1508–1458 BC). It is nearly one third larger than any ancient Egyptian obelisk ever erected. If finished it would have measured around 42 m (approximately 137 feet) and would have weighed nearly 1,200 tons

Proceed to visit the high dam, a rock fill dam built across the Nile in Aswan, between 1960 and 1970 with the aim to regulate the Nile River flooding, to store the water for agriculture and to generate hydro electric power

For the other Temples, Chapels and ruins date from the Ptolemaic times, more especially with the reigns of Ptolemy Philadelphus, Ptolemy Epiphanes, and Ptolemy Philometor (282-145 BC), with many traces of Roman work most notable in the Kiosk of Emperor Trajan (98-117 ad), enjoy free time at leisure. You will then be transferred back to your accommodation in Aswan
