Day 1: Auckland to Coromandel Peninsula:
Stop At: SkyTower, Victoria Street Corner Federal Streets, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010 New Zealand
Auckland to Coromandel Peninsula:
Today you will be collected in our beautiful ‘City of Sails’ (Auckland), which is nestled on a volcanic isthmus between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea. You will first drive south-east along the Pacific Coast Highway and via the Seabird Coast past the Miranda Shoreline Centre with the opportunity for a stop to enjoy the interesting displays and the unique opportunity to see the migratory bird species that call this area home.
We continue to the southern part of the Coromandel Peninsula, where today’s journey will take you through Paeroa, the town famous for the iconic NZ soft drink “Lemon & Paeroa”, through the stunning Karangahake Gorge, via the Goldmining town Waihi and on towards Whangamata in the southern part of the Coromandel, where you are guaranteed a warm welcome and great hosting for the next 2 nights accommodation in stunning surroundings.

Day 2: Coromandel Peninsula Highlights
Stop At: Coromandel Town Information Centre, 85 Kapanga Road, Coromandel 3506 New Zealand
After breakfast, we are ready to explore the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula and your expert guide will show you some of the most beautiful places in this stunning region. Visit Mount Paku Lookout with an optional walk to this extinct volcano’s summit for views over Tairua and the amazing white sands of Pauanui beach across this beautiful natural harbour. Choose to visit Whitianga, the main settlement in the Coromandel which is noted for its historical significance in both pre- and post-European times. It has interesting local shops, a beautiful harbour and is a base for game fishing for the rich fishing grounds nearby – another excellent way to spend a day in the Coromandel.
Explore world-famous Hahei Beach and Cathedral Cove, both often described as some of the most beautiful beaches on earth! In fact some of our guests decide to spend the remainder of this day at one of these beaches. Choose between an optional self-guided walk, a boat tour or a kayak tour from Hahei Beach to world-famous Cathedral Cove, depending whether you prefer to walk, paddle or just relax and be taken there by boat.
Hot Water Beach located near Hahei is an amazing and extremely popular natural phenomenon where you can dig yourself a natural spa bath in the sand, best done 2 hours either side of low tide. However, even at high tide this is a beautiful beach with the advantage that the crowds only come at low tide, so that might be your preference. Return to your accommodation for some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

Day 3: Coromandel Peninsula to Auckland or Rotorua:
Stop At: Coromandel Town Information Centre, 85 Kapanga Road, Coromandel 3506 New Zealand
Awakening to another day in Paradise, after a delicious breakfast and farewelled by your lodge hosts, we will now show you more of the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, such as Opoutere Beach, Kuaotunu and Coromandel Town (home to the well-know Driving Creek Railway including great views from the “Eyefull Tower”) before returning back to Auckland.
Along the way there are further sightseeing options, including time permitting and on request a visit to one of Auckland’s beautiful maunga (mountains) with great views of Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) from a volcano. Drop off at your Auckland accommodation or even Auckland Airport in the late afternoon/early evening to conclude your Private 3 Day Tour with us, having seen some of the most beautiful parts of Aotearoa / New Zealand!
You can alternatively choose to incorporate a visit to Hobbiton Movie Set into day 3 before returning to Auckland. Another option is for us to finish your tour in the world-famous thermal resort town Rotorua, where our guide can drop you off before our guide returns to Auckland. If you choose this option, this day’s itinerary will need to allow for a 2 hour tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set and 1.5 hours travel to Rotorua post-Hobbiton for an afternoon drop-off, noting your guide will need to still drive the 3 hours back to Auckland after concluding the tour.
