Stop At: The Grand Palace, Na Phra Lan Rd, Maharaj Pier next to Wat Phra Kaeo Temple Complex, Bangkok Thailand

Embark on a tour to visit the marvelous Grand Palace and explore its grounds which feature one of the most well-known temples in Thailand, Wat Phra Kaew, or Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Learn about the history behind the Emerald Buddha, and then treat yourself to some shopping at Gems Gallery. Get an early start as you are picked up from your hotel in Bangkok. Relax in the air-conditioned coach as your driver expertly navigates the bustling streets of the city and takes you to the Grand Palace, once home to the king of Siam and presently used for ceremonies and state functions. Marvel at the intricate construction of this enormous palace and stroll through both the ornate interior and the lush gardens of the exterior. There are multiple buildings in this complex for you to visit, the most famous of which is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The Emerald Buddha sits atop an elegant gold altar in the center of the temple. It is a rather small, dark statue, just over 2-feet (61-cm) tall and made of jadeite. Despite its national importance, Wat Phra Kaew is the only temple in Thailand that doesn’t have any resident monks. After you are finished at the temple, head over to the Gems Gallery where you can take some time to shop for a brightly colored gem to take home as a souvenir of your trip. Once you've completed this quest, your driver returns you with ease to your hotel.
