Transport Options for The Twin Coast Cycle Trail in Northland. The Twin Coast Cycle Trail is the Far North region’s newest tourist attraction. Running from Opua in the east to Horeke and Mangungu in the west it covers 87 kms of stunning scenery and history. 
The cycle trail passes through stunning scenery, runs besides rivers and estuaries, through tunnels and over bridges. It also traverses areas that are rich in Maori culture and early European history. You will pass through small Far North townships away from the main roads. It is also often called the “Northland Rail Trail” because the first of the trail uses a disused section of the old North Auckland line.
 Many years ago the “Opua Express” used to run over these tracks on its way to and from Auckland. Trains coexist with the trail today where there is a 4 km stretch and trains and cyclist run side by side.
Clients can hire bikes from half a day (4 hours) if they want to ride part of the trail. A popular route is to ride to Kawakawa, have lunch and cycle back or be picked up in Kawakawa and taken back to your ship/accommodation. Clients who want to ride the whole trail usually do so taking two full days (48 hours), we then collect them from Horeke at the end of the trail.
