Day 1:

Beijing -- Pingyao (L) Train D2001 07:45am - 12:08pm or similar

You will go on your own to the Beijing West Train Station to take the train to Pingyao. Once you arrive at Pingyao Train Station, you will meet your guide to start the tour.

First you will go visiting the Shuanglin Temple, reputed to be the "ancient painted sculptures museum." It houses more than 2,000 colorful sculptures reflecting the exquisite skills of the artisans of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Later you will be transferred to the Pingyao Old City and visit the Ancient City Wall that around the Old city, Rishengchang Banks, and Ming and Qing Street.

Overnight at Tianyuankui Hotel in Pingyao or similar rated hotel

Day 2: Pingyao -- Taiyuan -- Beijing (B, L) Train D2006 05:07pm - 08:39pm or similar

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Qiao Family Compound, a classic example of the Northern style large family compounds.

Then you will visit the Jin Memorial Temple, a compound with halls, pavilions, and towers. It is famous for its rare large-scale classical garden and ancient buildings. The compound, a dazzling pearl of China, has been preserved as an important relic by the state.

In the afternoon, take the train back to Beijing. Arrangements back to your hotel will be on your own.
