About this activity
You will be picked up by your private guide in your hotel lobby at 8am and transported in an air-conditioned vehicle to Tiananmen Square. Located at the very heart of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world. It is the place where Chairman Mao announced the establishment of People’s Republic of China, and the venue where massive parades took place. Strolling through the square, you can gain an insight into the modern history of China as your guide provides commentary.
You will then proceed to the Forbidden City, the world’s largest and best-preserved palace complex where 24 emperors lived and exercised their supreme power. You will see spectacular imperial architecture, sumptuous treasures and hear many anecdotes about the luxurious life of Chinese royal families. After visiting the Forbidden City, if weather permits, obtain an all-inclusive view of the Forbidden City from Jingshan Hill in Jingshan Park.
Your knowledgeable guide will narrate as you proceed to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Be sure to remember your camera to capture photographs of the breathtaking countryside. With tensely-distributed watchtowers, the Great Wall once operated as an important barrier in the defense of Beijing. Once you reach the Mutianyu Great Wall, a round-trip cable car will transfer you over the picturesque mountains to give you more time to hike.
Your tour will conclude when you are returned to your hotel at approximately 5pm.
