Day 1: Arrival in Bucharest

Transfer from the airport to your hotel.

Day 2: Bucharest – Bran Castle – Brașov

Start your day with a scenic drive to Bran Castle, which is famous for being the homestead of Vlad the Impaler and is the most visited attraction in Romania. During the tour in Brașov you will explore the city monuments. Visit the Gothic Black Church, built in the 14th century. Here you will also be able to see a collection of Oriental carpets. Dinner and accommodation in Brașov.

Day 3: Brașov – Voroneț

The next stop is the Red Lake, where a scenic hike awaits you. Afterwards you will drive along the Bicaz Gorge, a canyon with hundreds of meters of limestone walls. Explore Agapia, one of the largest monasteries in Europe. End the day with a drive to Gura Humorului for a 2-night stay.

Day 4: The Moldavian Monasteries

After breakfast, see the Monasteries in Bukovina. First you will visit Voroneț or “The Sistine Chapel of the East”, one of the best preserved monasteries of the 15th century. Then, Moldovița, where one of the nuns will teach you about their everyday life. Next, on to Sucevița, the “Pearl of the Moldavian Monasteries”. In the evening you will witness an egg painting demonstration.

Day 5: Voroneț – Bistrița – Sighișoara

Depart to Bistrița over the picturesque Borgo Pass of the Eastern Carpathians with a stop at Castle Dracula Hotel. This is where Bram Stoker placed the “residence” of Count Dracula. Afterwards, you can enjoy a wine tasting in the Transylvanian hills. In Sighisoara, you will admire the most beautiful medieval townscape in Romania. Witness the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the Citadel, the towers and walls of the town and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Dinner and accommodation in Sighișoara.

Day 6: Sighișoara – Sibiu

Start your day with a visit to Biertan, where you will find a restored fortified church which has been listed as a World Heritage Site. Drive to Sibiu through the picturesque Hârtibaciu Valley. Visit the sights in the historical centre: the Evangelical Church, the Council Tower, the Large and the Small Square, the Liars’ Bridge and the Peasants’ Market. Enjoy dinner in Sibiel with a farming family - the meal will consist of traditional Romanian dishes. Overnight stay in Sibiu.

Day 7: Sibiu – Bucharest

Head along the Olt River to southern Romania. Visit the Cozia monastery and marvel at Romanian architecture from the 14th century. On to Bucharest and visit the Athenaeum, the former royal palace, the Patriarchal Cathedral, the Stavropoleos church and other religious buildings. Enjoy dinner at a restaurant and your accommodation in Bucharest.

Day 8: Departure

Transfer to airport and departure.
