About this activity
Your tour begins with pickup from your Bucharest hotel in time for an 8am departure. Traveling in the comfort of a minivan/sedan vehicle, set out on the around 2-hour journey to Prahova, admiring the scenery as you wind through country villages, vineyards, and rolling farmlands.
On arrival at the Slanic Prahova Salt Mine, enjoy a guided 45-minute tour of the underground salt mine, the largest of its kind in Europe that is open to the public. Learn about the historic mine and its use today, and experience its healing air, which — thanks to its 60% humidity and steady 13ºC temperature — is reported to benefit those with respiratory issues.
After lunch (own expense), continue to the Berca Mud Volcanoes, a natural wonder that is unique in the world and makes for some dramatic photo opportunities. Learn about the region’s peculiar geology and hear how the small volcanoes are formed by the eruption of mud and natural gases.
Back in Bucharest, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 6pm.
