Itinerary
This guided walking tour of approximately 50 minutes will take visitors along the area of Canalside that passes along the warships USS The Sullivans and USS Little Rock (optional additional fee and tour time aboard the ships is available on request), past the USS Croaker and to the end of the Park. Visitors will learn about the three warships in the Park as we pass by them. Once at the mouth of the Buffalo River and opening to Lake Erie, visitors will learn unique elements of the area's history, from 380 million years ago to the present, including stories about the area's Native Americans, Erie Canal and, Buffalo when it was the "wild west." The return walk will take visitors through the various military memorials, finding out about Western New York's role in military conflicts from the Civil War to the present conflict in Afghanistan.
