Start your half-day trip to Christian Coptic Cairo which is among the most important locations visited by the Holy Family where the spiritual impact of their presence is still felt although their stay was brief, the Church of St. Sergius, founded at the end of the 4th century stands on a crypt where the Holy Family took refuge during their escape from Palestine to Egypt when the governor Fustat was seeking to kill the child Jesus. This and the entire area of the Fortress of Babylon (built around the 3rd century) is an important pilgrimage destination not only for Egyptians but for Christians from around the world. An air of piety and devotion pervades the whole district there. 

Built over the ruins of the fortress is the Church of St.Mary (the suspended church) the most well-known and popular name for this church is the "Hanging Church". You will then go to see one of the synagogues.
