About this activity
Your private guide will collect you at 7am for the scenic 3-hour drive to Alexandria by private, air-conditioned car. Your first stop will be the waterfront Citadel of Qaitbay, built during Ottoman times. Then you'll take a trip back to the Roman era, visiting both an amphitheater and the eerie catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa.

Soon after Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great, more than 2,300 years ago, it became famous for its great library and lighthouse. The lighthouse is long gone but the library has been reinvented, and the startling modern building is the next stop on your tour.

Next, you'll visit the royal palace of King Farouk, the last king of Egypt, who was overthrown in 1952, and Alexandria's most celebrated religious monument, the Abu Abbas al-Murci mosque. The tour includes lunch and returns to Cairo at around 7pm.
