DAY ONE
We will pick you up from your hotel. With your own guide, visit the Giza pyramids area in an air-conditioned van. The Egyptologist will provide you with all the history of the area, the 9 pyramids of the kings, queens and princesses, the sphinx, the valley temple of mummification. You will have enough time for photography in different sides, extra options such as entering one of the pyramids, visiting the sun boat museum or riding a camel around the area.
Another wonderful places is waiting for you ; you will enjoy one of the main attractions of the city. A visit to the Egyptian museum. Your Egyptologist guide will give you an introduction of this massive place. The museum, which was opened in 1901, houses thousands of monuments and artifacts. You will be overwhelmed by what you see around you: statues of the great pharaohs, golden treasures, tools, mummies and much more. You will spend wonderful time moving among the treasures of king Tut Ankh Amun. Although, you need weeks and weeks to cover everything in this huge building, however, your guide will explain with passion the highlights and must-see pieces. Then you will enjoy free time to go and browse here and there.
The last part of the tour is the souk of khan El Khalili where you can have free time around the shops and cafes. Our tour guide will invite you to have a local drink in the oldest coffee shop in Cairo; EL Fishawy.
DAY;TWO
After leaving the hotel, take a three hours’ drive to that beautiful city of Alexandria. Your first stop when you get there is the catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa, a Roman burial site that started as a private family tomb, then in 300 hundred years coverted into a community one.The tomb reveals the merging of Egyptian and Roman art and architecture. Descend below ground to visit the tomb and Caracalla Hall. Back above ground, continue to Pompey’s Pillar, an 82-feet (25-meter) granite column built to honor Emperor Diocletian, who freed the besieged city and brought food to its starving people. Continuing the Roman theme, the next site your guide will show you is the fort of Qaitbay, built in 1477 to protect the eastern side of the city. The fort was built on the same location of the great lighthouse of Alexandria. After lunch (additional cost), you will visit the famous Alexandria Library. In contrast to the ancient architecture found throughout Egypt, the Norwegian-designed building is a striking piece of modern design. A copy of every book published in the world is kept in the library, making it one of the great literary sites in the world. At the conclusion of the tour ,drive back to Cairo
