About this activity

You’ll get to know a “chicle” farm in company of an experimented guide. You’ll know more about the “chicozapote”, the gum tree sacred for the Mayans because they used its resin to elaborate the candles, which they worshipped the most important gods such as Ixchel or Kukulkán. The guide will inform you about the “chicle” farmers legacy, a job that starts its industrialization thanks to James Adams, interpreter of Antonio López de Santana (a 19th century Mexican president). The Adams House owner was a pioneer in the commercialization of chicle with sugar, also known as bubble gum.
