About this activity
Be blown away by breathtaking vistas and majestic mountain surrounds nestled in an area with a rich culture and history. Rolling vineyards and classic Dutch architecture introduce you to a world of award winning wines and eateries. Experience the warmth and beauty of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek & Paarl while developing a new appreciation for the winemaking process by participating in a cellar tour accompanied by a wine and cheese tasting.

Drive from Cape Town to the heart of the Cape Winelands, Stellenbosch. Also known as the Eikestad (City of Oaks in Afrikaans) it is the second oldest town in South Africa and boasts the largest concentration and variety of vineyards in the country. Take a walk along oak lined streets and soak in the holiday atmosphere of this quiet "old world" town including viewing some well preserved national monuments, antique shops and museums, as well as South Africa's oldest music school the Conservatoire.

Proceed to the third oldest town in South Africa, Paarl. The town has a considerable viticultural heritage spanning from 1687 when Governor Simon van der Stel awarded titles to the first colonial farms in the area. Besides the incredible vineyards, Paarl offers many magnificently preserved examples of thatched -gabled Cape Dutch and Victorian buildings situated alongside the 12 km long Main Road. Participate in a wine tasting and visit the bronze statue of Mandela which now stands outside the Groot Drakenstein prison where the legendary statesman spent the final years of his incarceration and made the famous "walk to freedom" in 1990.

Continue the journey with a stop in Franschhoek (French corner) one of the South Africa's oldest towns with a strong French history and influence that echoes through the towns gorgeous scenery. Described by many as the "food and wine capital" of the country, the town's ideal weather, close proximity to Cape Town, architectural beauty, huge variety of culinary offerings and award winning wines make it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Cape Winelands. Take a walk in the town and marvel at the many art galleries, antique shops, cozy coffee shops and amazing restaurants before visiting the Huguenot Memorial and a wine farm for a cellar tour and wine tasting session.

End the tour with a scenic drive back to Cape Town.
