About this activity
Township a name was used by the Apartheid government to describe a black area under the group areas act. Langa consists of a community of extremes. On the one hand there is abject poverty and on the other side there is extraordinary wealth in the upper class suburbs such as Settlers .We visit Joe Slovo informal settlement/shanty town in Langa, we are going to do a walkabout. You will be shown around the conditions of this impoverished community. A stop at this site will be an eye opener, a real experience and a true reflection of the unfortunate circumstances of informal dwellings in South Africa. But also on this tour you will learn that townships are also places of great strength, courage, song, dance, survival, love and spirit of Ubuntu.
