Volcan Totumo

According to the legend, a monk shed a drop of holy water in a volcano full of lava as a result the lava softened and became a thick, soft mud, with de-stressing and rejuvenating powers. At approximately one hour away from Cartagena you will find one of the major touristic attractions of the Colombian Caribbean area, the exotic and natural marvel, the Totumo Volcano. Take the time to admire the tropical landscape of Bolivar on the way to this location. Once at the site of the volcano, climb up the rustic wooden stairs and prepare yourself for the highlight of the day. Once you enter the Totumo volcano you will feel like floating in the air; because of the smoothness and density of the mud it is physically impossible to sink. When you leave, you can get a massage done by the locals or go swimming in the calm surrounding lagoon to get the mud off.
