Dujiangyan Panda Base, also known as China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base, is the only giant panda care, disease prevention and control institute in the world. There you can take giant panda volunteer experience, have a close contact with giant pandas by having photos taken holding a baby panda, or choose both experiences.

The volunteer experience is mainly about two aspects, sweeping and feeding. You will receive a short training in how to deal with the pandas, then start the volunteer work of cleaning the panda enclosures, preparing food like fruit, carrots and panda cakes, and distributing the food to the pandas. Afterwards, you will receive a volunteer certificate and the satisfaction of contributing to a great cause.

For panda holding experience, you will have a close contact with giant pandas by having photos taken holding a baby panda. Although the process only takes a few minutes, one should be very careful, wear special protective clothing and follow staff instructions. The panda holding program allows you to take photos with a panda next to you or in your arms for about one minute, the staff at the panda base will help you to take photos and videos for you with your own equipment.
