Bussaco Enchanted Forest & Palaces Tour

1 day
About this activity
Not visiting Bussaco National Forest and Palace while in Central Portugal is like going to Lisbon and not visiting Sintra or going to Rome and not visiting the Vatican! There are some things you just cannot miss and now you have the unique opportunity to get to know it everyday of the year, alongside us! In the year of 1628, the religious order of Barefoot Carmelites started to construct a spiritual hermitage where they could withdraw totally from the outside world. The monks not only build a convent but built also a luxurious garden suposed to represent an Earthly Paradise, plus creating a wall round their sacred forest to isolate themselves. In the XIX century the last Kings of Portugal decided to construct a Palace inside these woods in the neo-manuelino unique portuguese architecture style. It really looks like a castle out of a fairytale in the middle of an enchanted forest
