About this activity
In the year of 1064, after the Christian conquest of Coimbra by Fernando Magno, Coimbra and the Mondego Basin became a defensive line, scene of both armed conflict and instability as well as peaceful coexistence, between two worlds: Christian and Muslim. Among the castels of Coimbra, Lous, Miranda do Corvo, Penela, Soure Pombal, Germanelo, Montemor-o-Velho and Buarcos Fortification are the most impressive structures of the Mondego Defensive Line, which we can visit in a half-day visit or full-day (please inquire). The half-day visit covers Montemor-o-Velho Castle and Buarcos Fortification!
