About this activity
Explore the exotic city of Colombo in this private half day city tour, where you'll be able to have a feel and look of this historical city.

Colombo (derived from the Sinhalese name Kola-amba-thota, which means "mango harbour", altered by the Portuguese to honour Christopher Columbus), is the cultural capital and largest city and commercial centre of Sri Lanka. A vast majority of Sri Lankan corporations have their head offices located in Colombo. Some of the industries include chemicals, textiles, leather goods, furniture and jewellery.

This tour will begin from the 'fort area' of Colombo, which had gotten it's name because of it being a fort during the war times of the Portuguese and Dutch. Drive-through the commercial areas and past Pettah, a colorful Oriental bazaar with a mix of people, ancient vehicles, bargains, mosques and temples.

You will also have a chance to see a Buddhist temple in Colombo, which is the Gangarama Temple. Continue your tour of Colombo as you drive along the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens, and also visit the Independence Square, National Museum and Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall.
