Snorkeling at Pigeon Island, Trincomalee

About this activity
Begin your snorkeling tour at the Water sports center in Margosa Bay at 8:00 am / 9:00 am or 10:00 am.
Your boat ride takes up to 20 minutes to get to the Pigeon Island, where the sea off the coast is shallow for a fair distance and is protected by coral reefs that act as breakwaters. This allows many types of fish to live in the shallows, as well as life on the sea floor such as sea anemones, sea cucumbers, starfish, and coral (formed by polyps).
While snorkeling, you will be able to see sights such as living coral in different colors, silver-blue shoals of small fish, a hermit crab who peeks out for prey, flowery-looking anemones that hide from danger in their midst, clown fish who wanders among the strands, and much more. If you bring an underwater camera, you will be able to take some great photos, too.
After finishing your snorkeling session, you will be returned to the water sports center, where the boat drops you off, completing the tour.
