About this activity
Itinerary

Your tour will start at 10:00 am or 2:00 pm depending on your preference when booking. You will be picked up from the Panadura bus stand and taken to the dance studio. There will be a practicing dance instructor to guide you on your journey to learn the traditional Sinhalese dances of Sri Lanka.

These dances have a growing popularity worldwide, and you will be able to learn the basic steps for 3 of the most important ones. The Kandyan dance, known as uda rata natum by locals is especially representative of the country and can be often seen during street and stage performances. Other dances you will learn are the Southern Plains dance (pahatha rata natum) and the Sabaragamuwa dance (Sabaragamuwa natum). You will also learn some of the traditions and stories behind them.

You will also learn to play a relevant drum rhythm for each of these 3 dance styles. Your instructor will be helpful and clear. At the end of your lesson, you will be able to refresh yourself with some snacks and drinks. At 1:00 pm or 5:00 pm (depending on your start time), you will complete your lesson and will be dropped off at the bus stand completing your tour.
