About this activity
The centre point of the First World War ski tour is the symbolic mountain of the 1st world war, Mount Col di Lana. The 80 km (49 mi) tour takes you around this mountain. Everywhere, you will find traces of World War 1: artefacts from the war era, trenches running right through the rocks, parapet walks and forts. At the Cinque Torri the Italian trenches can be seen and on the Lagazuoi, you can visit the Austrian machine gun post and just below it the guard post with the officers’ shack, with skis at its feet. The Armentarola slope is one of the most fascinating environments of the Dolomites. At the bottom, a horse-drawn tow takes the skiers to the slopes of the Badia Valley, where they proceed to Arabba, Padon and Marmolada. The stop for lunch is in a traditional mountain refuge to taste some traditional dishes.
