About this activity
The Salkantay Trek is open to everybody meaning that there are no permit limitations. You will trek for 5 days accompanied by horses and mules to carry the gear and cooking equipment. The trek will take you along the highlands of the Andes into the cloud forest connecting the village of Mollepata with Machu Picchu. The starting point is located less than sixty miles northwest of Cusco in the Vilcabamba mountain range. Rising to 20,574 feet, Mount Salkantay is an outstanding glacier-capped summit worshipped for thousands of years by local Peruvians.
