About this activity
Around 2 pm (to be confirmed), your guide picks you up at your hotel in the center of Cusco or one of the pick-up points nearby to join the rest of the group. First, you visit the main square of beautiful Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, where the imposing cathedral watches over square with rightful pride. Just like the church Coricancha, the Spanish built the cathedral on top of the foundations of Inca buildings after the conquest of Cusco.

After exploring the main square, you leave the city to visit the Inca ruins surrounding the city, to begin with Qenko. Here, you can admire the underground galleries and the semicircular amphitheater. Tambomachay (Bath of the Inca), featuring rooms with water fountains, and likely has served as a spa for the Inca elite. Subsequently, you visit Pucapucara (also called Red Fortress) that is situated on the hill near Tambomachay and may have been built to protect the spa. This interesting tour is concluded with a visit to the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an impressive example of Inca military architecture. After about four hours, you return to the center of Cusco.
