About this activity
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco from 8:00 to 8:30 am to take you to our bus and start the tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will visit the following archeological sites and attractions:

Pisaq market and archaeological group. After going to the lookout (Mirador) of the Sacred Valley where we can take great pictures of the Andes Mountains and the Valley itself, we will head to the traditional town of Pisaq. There, we’ll visit the market and learn a bit more about the lifestyle of the local people. We will then visit a traditional oven where we can have some delicious typical pizzas, bread, etc. After that, we will visit the archaeological complex and see the agricultural terraces, Inca cemeteries and royal Inca buildings. Our buffet lunch will be in a restaurant in the town of Urubamba.

Ollantaytambo. Later in the afternoon, we will head to Ollantaytambo which was built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and to protect the Incas themselves from possible invasions. We will walk the streets and see the archaeological complex of this little town to get a clear idea of what this military, religious, and cultural center was really like during the period of the Inca Empire.

Ollantaytambo, was a former Inca administrative center and gateway to the Antisuyo (the Amazon corner of the Inca Empire), sits at the northern end of the Sacred Valley. At the time of the Spanish invasion and conquest of Peru Ollantaytambo served as the last stronghold for Inca Manco Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance at the time. Nowadays the Ollantaytambo ruins and town are an important and popular tourist attraction in the Sacred Valley. The town’s primary attraction is the Ollantaytambo Fortress on the outskirts of the settlement in a section known as the Temple Hill. It is also the most common starting point for the famous Inca trail.

Chinchero. Later, on the way back to Cusco, we will visit the picturesque village of Chinchero where we’ll see the remains of the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui and a colonial temple. The colonial temple was built on top of the Inca estate. You will also see the well-preserved Inca Walls at the main plaza.

Chinchero is a small Andean Indian village located high up on the windswept plains of Anta at 3765m about 30km from Cusco. There are beautiful views overlooking the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with the Cordillera Vilcabamba and the snow-capped peak of Salkantay dominating the western horizon. Chinchero is believed to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow. Its major claim to tourism is its colourful Sunday market which is much less tourist-orientated than the market at Pisac.

After the guided tour, we will return to Cusco. The tour lasts about nine hours ends at around 6:30 pm. We will transfer you to your hotel.
