What is Burj Al Arab

Burj Al Arab is a luxury hotel situated 280 meters offshore of the mainland in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The hotel is situated on a human-made artificial island made of sand and deep piles to handle the whole construction. The island is connected to Jumeirah beach by a private bridge. The hotel has a helipad that serves also as a tennis court.

It took two years to build the whole island. The construction of the hotel lasted for three years. The overall budget of the whole project was 650 million dollars. Until 2007 Burj Al Arab was the tallest hotel in the world. In 2007 this record was broken by JW Marriott Marquis also located in Dubai.
