Mary is a warm and wonderful host passionate about food and cooking. A local celebrity chef, Mary won a national competition on TV for the best amateur cook in the country! The eldest of three children, Mary stepped in as the cook at home and learned the basics very early. She could never say no to good food and that’s how she developed a keen interest in cooking. She became a cooking instructor at the Howth Castle cookery school where she taught until she recently retired.

Mary loves nurturing people through food - her favorite kind of cooking is when she’s having people over for a dinner party! Mary hosts along with Denis, an affable Irishman who was a fine art auctioneer with an in-depth knowledge of art, antiques and furniture. She says the secret to their successful 40-year old marriage is to keep her husband’s stomach full!
