3-Day Camel Trekking in the Moroccan Sahara Desert from Fez
Day 1: FES - AZROU - MIDELT - VALLÉE DU ZIZ - ERFOUD –RISSANI- MERZOUGA
We will depart for Merzouga, passing through the great cedar forests of Azrou, where troops of wild Barbary Apes (Barbary Macaque) live.
It's a great opportunity to take photos of the wilderness. Then we continue via the Middle Atlas Mountains toward the valley of Tafilalt.
We will have lunch in a restaurant in Midelt. Then we’ll drive through Erfoud, famous for its dates and fossils, crossing several Berber villages and Rissan the capital of Tafilalt ( Tafilalt is considered as one of the largest oases in the world). Then we carry on to Merzouga.
Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse in Merzouga.
Day 2: MERZOUGA – RISSANI
After breakfast we leave for Khamlia, a village known by its inhabitants ( the original black musicians from Mali).
Then we set off for the seasonal lake of Dayet Srji, which fills in the spring and dries up in summer. The lake attracts hundreds of flamingos and other migratory waders (larks, swallows, pipit, wagtail, storks, doves, stilts, quail, ducks etc ...)
Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Rissani. Then we'll return to Merzouga, to prepared for a camel ride to the erg chebbi dune.
Dinner and overnight in a Berber tent at the foot of Erg Chebbi.
Day 3: MERZOUGA – FES
We will wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes. Arriving back to the hotel on our camels for breakfast and a quick shower before driving back to Fes.
