About this activity

Experience the unique tastes of Florence with delicious local food on this walking tour.

Your gourmet day begins at 9:30 am with your local tour guide in the center of Florence. You'll have breakfast in a typical Italian bar and taste two different types of coffee and learn about toasting coffee beans.

Next you'll taste a panino tartufato (a sandwich with truffle) in a delicatessen like no other. It was founded in 1885 and is famous among the locals for its traditional gastronomic specialties with truffles. During the tour, your guide will describe the history of famous squares in Florence. In the past these squares were markets where the locals could buy food, so your guide will tell you about some traditional dishes (please note, your guide won’t give you any recipes, just mouthwatering descriptions).

Afterwards you'll head over to the Saint Lawrence Central Market, where the locals do their shopping today. Here you'll get to taste the schiacciata fiorentina (flat salty bread with olive oil), balsamic vinegars, extra virgin olive oils, and crostini (a type of bread). You’ll follow it all up at a local enoteca (wine bar) where you'll taste two Tuscan wines with Italian cheeses and two cold cuts. As you relax in the charming atmosphere, you'll learn about the local origins of these products. Finally you'll visit one of Florence's best ice cream shops, where you'll taste a scrumptious all-natural Italian ice cream!
