About this activity
Meet your guide at the reception desk of the Leonardo da Vinci museum located close to the Duomo in the center of Florence. Your guide will take you straight into the museum to give you a brief introduction to the life and times of the master Leonardo from Vinci and give you a tour of his interactive machines recreated for the museum. Marvel at the playfullness and ingenuity of inventions ranging from an underwater mask to mechanical wings, to war machines and even a bicycle juxtaposed with reproductions of his most famous paintings including the Mona Lisa.

After about 40 minutes in the museum you'll head out to explore the city of Florence as seen through the lens of Leonardo's life and work. See the magnificent Duomo and Baptistry from outside before strolling through the mysterious medieval district where you can peek into the courtyard of the Bargello and Palazzo Gondi where he painted the Mona Lisa before you end the tour in the Signoria Square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio with the dramatic tale of Leonardo's rivalry with Michelangelo.

Throughout the tour your guide will weave together anecdotes from the life of Leonardo da Vinci with the history of Florence itself as we decode some of the mystery surrounding one of Italy's most creative and curious minds. At the end of this tour you'll have traced Leonardo's life from his humble origins to his impact on Florence and other artists of the Renaissance to the way his ideas still shape the world we live in.
