Renowned for both the well-preserved Renaissance walls surrounding the city center and cobblestone roads, Lucca has huge gates and impressive ramparts. Your guide will walk you along the pedestrian promenade on a section of the broad, tree-lined paths over the 16th and 17th-century ramparts, leading to the charming town center, all the while taking in the views over the town’s rooftops. Anfiteatro Square, San Martino Cathedral and Guinigi Tower are the main attractions, along with a pleasant stroll through quaint streets, lined with antique shops. The perfect end to a perfect day – tasting the Buccellato. This round cake is filled with sultanas, raisins and aniseed. Delicious. The Lucchesi people say that if you visit Lucca and don’t eat some Buccellato, then you haven’t really been there!
