About this activity
Your tour will start after meeting your guide in a central spot of Florence. Walk through Piazza della Signoria to get inside the famous cityhall of Florence Palazzo Vecchio and follow Robert Langton's tracks to see its secret passages and the Salone dei Cinquecento (Five Hundred hall) where Robert Langton looked for the misterious keywords "cerca trova". The palace offers the opportunity to admire some of the most remarkable masterpieces as paintings and sculptures of the Renaissance, such as the Genius of Victory by Michelangelo. Continue the visit of the palace, visiting the apartments of Cosimo I and his wife Eleonora di Toledo, frescoed with historical and mythological allegories in the Renaissance and brought to life by the guide.
Discover Dante Alighieri's death mask, who wrote the Divine Comedy, and inspired Dan Brown's book. After the visit of the Palazzo Vecchio we will focus on the area where Dante Alighieri lived and see a remake of his house and the real church where he first met his beloved Beatrice. Proceed to the Baptistery, its shining Paradise gate, and visit the Cathedral complex from outside, and inside (closed on Sunday morning) then get inside the Baptistery to admire its faboulous Mosaics.
Lunch.
At the end of the tour you will still have free entrance to:
The Museum of the Opera del Duomo recently restored tells the story of the Cathedral and shows its original facade rebuilt in the same size model
Brunelleschi's Dome climbing
Giotto's Belltower
- Santa Reparata Crypt below the Cathedral
