Stop At: Komyozen-ji Temple, 2-16-1 Saifu, Dazaifu 818-0117 Fukuoka Prefecture

Also known as the "moss temple" due to its celebrated garden. At the temple's garden, "Itteki Kaitei," land and islands are represented with moss, and white sand is used to show the ocean. Its unique landscaping is certainly worth a look.
Certain temple and shrine visits may not be possible depending on ceremonies or other operational reasons.

Stop At: Dazaifu Temmangu, 4-7-1 Saifu, Dazaifu 818-0017 Fukuoka Prefecture

Take a stroll through Dazaifu Tenmangu, the shrine dedicated to the God of study, devotion, and warding off evil.

Savor a Japanese-style set meal at a restaurant right by Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine's main hall. At the time of a booking, customers may request to change the meal to a tempura rice bowl or fried cutlet rice bowl.

There are plenty of souvenir shops lining the approach road to Tenmangu. Also, look forward to enjoying some specialty umegae-mochi rice cakes (3 per person) here. A voucher will be given to each participant, so please use it at your shop of choice.

Stop At: Kamado Shrine, 883 Otomoyatani, Uchiyama, Dazaifu 818-0115 Fukuoka Prefecture

Go to Kamado Shrine via the Dazaifu City Community Bus "Mahoroba."
Kamado Shrine is famous for housing a deity of matchmaking. While the deity enshrined here has traditional roots, in 2013 a modern-style shrine office was built here, and the shrine is visited by many female worshippers.

Stop At: Kanzeon Temple, 5-6-1 Kanzeonji, Dazaifu 818-0101 Fukuoka Prefecture

Go to Kanzeon-ji Temple via the Dazaifu City Community Bus "Mahoroba."
Built in the 8th century, this ancient temple is even mentioned in "The Tale of Genji," the world's oldest novel. The tranquil, camphor-tree-enveloped temple grounds change with the seasons providing views of autumn leaves, linden trees, wisteria, hydrangea, and Chinese tallow.

Stop At: Dazaifu Government Remains, 4 Kanzeonji, Dazaifu 818-0101 Fukuoka Prefecture

Visit the remains of the office which served as the contact point for negotiations with foreign countries from the mid-7th century. It is referred to as 'To-no-mikado' in the Manyoshu, an ancient Japanese anthology. At present the buildings themselves have been lost, and the location turned into a park with foundation stones showing the layout of the office's former gate and corridor
