About this activity
This route was the old paved "Royal Path", one of the main routes used for the movement of people in Madeira Island.

Moreover, while making this walk you will be taken through ancient Madeira's history, as this was a major route that linked the north and south of the island.

Along this trail it is possible to see the highest mountains of Madeira, as well as the superb views over the Nun’s Valley situated in the center of the island.

You'll also have stunning views over Funchal, Paúl da Serra, Encumeada, Serra de Água and Ribeira Brava.

This is a challenging full day trip and walk that starts at around 9am until 5pm. It has a walking distance of about 12.5km and takes approximately 5h30m to complete.
