The Madeira East Tour is a truly magical tour with a variety of natural beauty of mountains, lush green valleys, awesome cliffs and ocean views.We start with a pick-up is from Funchal harbour or hotel at 8:00 to 9:00. The first stop will be at a viewpoint above Funchal before continuing to Camacha, famous for its beautiful wicker works. Here we will stop to have a quick look around and then take a scenic drive up to Poiso where the start of the Laurissilva forest can be seen.We then make our way up to the majestic views of Pico do Arieiro. Pico do Arieiro is the second highest peak on the island, standing 1818 meters. Next is what some consider to be the most beautiful spot on the island, Ribeiro Frio. Here we will stop to do an easy levada walk to the Balcões as well as a visit to a trout farm that can be found in this area.We then make our way to the northern coast all the way to Santana to see its famous A-framed cottages and beautiful gardens. Our next stop will be in Faial where we stop for lunch at a famous restaurant on the island called Grutas do Faial, which means the caves of Faial. A delicious lunch is served along with a very good locally made table wine.After lunch carry on to the eastern part of the island, to the famous viewpoint of Pico do Facho. From here you will have incredible views of Ponta de São Lourenco, Machico and the airport. On a good day one can see the Desertas Islands as well Porto Santo, the small island adjacent to Madeira. The last stop will be a famous viewpoint above Machico.We get back to Funchal between 16.30 and 17.00.
