Hanoi- Duong Lam Ancient Village – Hanoi (L)

After breakfast, we depart from Hanoi to Duong Lam Ancient Village a purely agricultural village of the Northern Red River. This is the only village keeping intact structure and way of life of a Vietnamese ancient village in the Northern Midlands.

Upon arrival, we visit Mong Phu Communal House in Mong Phu hamlet - the only hamlet whose original village entrance gate remains entirely, dedicated to national heroes. Mong Phu communal house is a gathering place of the villagers for cultural activities. The communal house was built carefully with shape architecture style and decorated symbol show the conception of Vietnamese people and the traditional culture.

Continue visiting the village to discover the daily of Vietnamese peasants along the rice fields with a stop in ancient houses was built 200 years to 400 years ago. You have some interesting talks with the locals in their ancient houses. Lunch is served in local family on your own account.

In the afternoon, we visit Hien Bao’s family that producing peanuts candy, sesame candy and Doi candy of Mr. Cao Van Hien family (Dong Sang village, Duong Lam commune). Products of his family has been branded on the market, are presented not only in the local stores, but also to the provinces nearby. Especially products of his family also won first prize of the "Tourism products in Duong Lam ancient village" contest organized by the International Cooperation Agency of Japan JICA. With people in Duong Lam, Doi candy has become a part of hometown flavor and entered in the many songs and poems.

Visit Mia Pagoda built in 15th century and admire 287 statues of all sizes, along with famous sculpture such as the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas and the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities.
