Half-Day Kayak to the Maori Carvings from Taupo

This 4-hour small group guided tour with return transport from central Taupo will allow for approximately 3-hours kayaking on Lake Taupo.

Your tour begins from the store in Central Taupo where you can leave your valuables in a secure locked area. You will then travel via the company shuttle to Jerusalem Bay where your gear will be unloaded. You will go through the safety aspects of your kayaking journey with all you need to know about kayaking before putting on your spray decks, life jackets and launching your kayaks.

Paddle along the coastline which will enable you to have a look at the bird life along the way. Travel past the famous cliff drop whilst taking in the amazing scenery including looking back over the Taupo Town Centre and beyond to the majestic volcanoes of the central plateau. Your guide will give you handy kayaking tips on the way and tell you some of the history of the area.

Once at the Maori Carvings you will get close enough to take photos and to marvel at the great skill of the master carvers. Here your guide will inform you on what the different parts of the carvings mean and the history of the people depicted.

On the return journey you will paddle back along the coastline to a picnic spot, where you can enjoy a hot drink and some cookies, stretch your legs and have swim for those willing.

Once back at the Jerusalem Bay, load up the kayaks on the trailer and head back to the store where you can use the toilet facilities and changing rooms. Your guide will upload all photos they have taken and then send you the link so you can enjoy all of your amazing memories from Great Lake Taupo.
