About 70% of the time we observe Honu's (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles) sleeping on the Black sand.

The only remaining intact Pu'uhonua (Place of Refuge) on any of the Islands. This is the most important and protected Hawaiian Historical site on any of the Islands. This is where the KAPU. The belief system Pre-Christianity was practiced. A must see site on any visit to the Big Island, in a beautiful and unspoiled location.
