About this activity
Remnants from five volcanoes created the entire Big Island and this tour takes you through some of the remnants of the lava flow from these historic events. The aftermath from these volcanic eruptions dominates the landscape as lava flow has created unique ecosystems and life forms. On this tour you’ll learn how volcanoes are an integral part to the birth and life of Hawaii and experience the landscape that challenges the world’s top athletes every year at the Ironman Triathlon.
After fitting and safety brief, roll out to Kona Old Airport Runway and Beach park for sites of Kona’ past and present. View the landscape that has been shaped by thousands of years of lava flow and natural elements. Spin on out to Honokahau Harbor for Fishing and beach activities. You’ll tour unique lobster, abalone, and sea salt farms, as well as a deep sea water bottling plant.
Go where the pro triathletes go as your guide takes you on the course tour of the annual Ironman Bike/Run course out to the Kona Otec Industrial park. Stretch your ego as you imagine finishing in the world’s toughest athletic event.
