About this activity
ITINERARY:
8:00 AM, VN Bike Tour guide will pick you up at your place for the two-hour drive to Mekong Delta. We will travel in a modern, comfortable, air-conditioned van. On the way, you will take in the scenic countryside and farmlands of Southern Vietnam.
Our first stop is the “Coconut Kingdom of Vietnam”. This can only be Ben Tre province, famous for its many inter-connecting rivers, streams and canals, where rich fisheries and agriculture, especially rice, make it the undisputed “Rice basket of Vietnam”.
Upon arrival, we will transfer to bikes. From here, our Mekong adventure truly begins! We must cycle as it is virtually impossible to get to our destination by car along the winding pathways and jungle, over the safe, but challenging, terrain.
Along our 7 – 10 km cycling route, we are going to pass through peaceful village streets, cross bridges connecting isolated small canals, and stop at tropical fruit gardens. We will visit the homes of friendly locals so you can get an idea of life in Mekong. Here you will also enjoy the experience of sampling local cuisine by having a typical “homegrown, homemade” meal while you quench your thirst by drinking juice right out of the coconut. Then, we will are off to a garden to help harvest and taste the exotic fruits of Mekong Delta.
From here we head to the wharf to board a traditional sampan. Seeing this classic Asian-shaped boat, seen so often in pictures and movies, you will know that you are truly in the heart of exotic Asia. Your journey will take you down the Tien River where you will pass the famous, four tiny islands representing Southeast Asia’s mythical animals: the Dragon, Kirin, Tortoise and Phoenix.
Our next stop is Kirin Island where you can sample freshly baked coconut candy and honey which tastes of the island’s rich and diverse flora. After a walk through the orchard gardens, we will break briefly in the shade to taste rich, seasonal tropical fruits and listen to folk music, played and performed by local artists.
Then have your camera and video ready for one of the most fun parts of the tour. The row boat ride, with its multitude of boats going up and down the mangrove-lined canal is a sight to behold. It is akin to rush-hour traffic in Ho Chi Minh mixed with the calming effect of beautiful shade, caressing breezes and sunlight filtered through jungle leaves. Then it is a short walk to your final adventure - a horse-drawn carriage ride through the village, just like the locals did in the 19th century.
We arrive back in Ho Chi Minh City at around 6 pm.

Please let us know if you have any food allergies or special requests.
