About this activity
This unique tour is a great outing for family or friends and the only opportunity you'll have in Hong Kong to get close to the giant container ships at one of the world’s busiest and most efficient commercial ports.

Make your own way to the departure pier in the morning and be welcomed by your guide, New Zealander James Hargraves, who has 10 years’ experience of working in the shipping industry. He’s ready to provide you with a fascinating insider’s view of what you see together with interesting background on the port itself.

Then, step aboard the Jungle Jane — a large modern junk-style motor vessel that’s one of Hong Kong’s most iconic boats. This sleek craft comes complete with a large open deck equipped with funky lounge furniture, including bean bags, sunloungers, and tables and chairs.

Set up here around a table or on a comfy bean bag and enjoy a drink — your tour includes unlimited sodas, wine, and beer. Then, soak up the views as sail first to the port’s dangerous goods anchorage. Here, move right up inside Hong Kong Container Port and maneuver next to the huge container ships as they are loaded and unloaded.

After the port tour, sail to a nearby beach for a lunch stop. Refuel with a barbecue feast of steak, prawns, chicken, sausages, salad, and dessert, and if you wish, enjoy a swim in the sea.

Following lunch, continue to the abandoned village of Ma Wan, on Ma Wan island. Hear why and when the residents of this so-called ‘ghost’ village left their homes, and take a stroll along the crumbling, empty streets. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Your tour then concludes at the original starting pier.
