Chishingtan (Qixingtan, Qixing Lake) is a poetic name in Chinese. It is said that there were lakes scattered along the coastline. The beach here has an elegant arch shape. The seawater is clean and blue. The black stones are crystal. From here you can see twisting highways carved into cliff and famous Qingshui Cliff.

Eternal Spring Shrine is built to commemorates the 226 personnel (military veterans) who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway.

Stop At: Taroko Gorge, Xinchen Township Taiwan

Taroko Gorge is famous for its spectacular mountains and marble canyons. Cliffs and canyons stretch along Liwu River. Four million years ago, the island of Taiwan was formed by the collision of plates. After millions of years of wind erosion, the marble rocks were exposed and cut by Liwu River, creating impressive grand canyons.

Stop At: Tianxiang Scenic Are, Xiulin Township, 972 Taiwan

Tianxiang is the site of an old Atayal village at the confluence of the Liwu and Dasha Rivers. Its name commemorates Wen Tianxiang, who lived in the 13th century and was the last prime minister of the Song Dynasty.

Taiwan Railways is the most convenient way of transportation to Hualien, where Tarako Gorge is located. This tour includes round-way train tickets between Taipei and Hualien.

Stop At: Shakadang Trail, Taroko National Park, Fushi Village, Xiulin Township, 972 Taiwan

Shakadang Trail is also known as "Mysterious Valley Trail". This trail is built along the river cliff, so travelers can easily observe both the rock folds and plant ecosystem beside in the river valley.

Stop At: Yanzihkou Trail, Xincheng Township Zhongheng Highway 179K, Hualien City Taiwan

Tarako Gorge is formed by downward erosion from Liwu River. This part of Tarako Gorge is composed of marble cliff faces covered with small holes, the result of long-term erosion by river and ground water. House swifts and Pacific swallows often forage and nest here, giving the place its name: Swallow Grotto (Yanzihkou). From trail built along Liwu River Valley, you will enjoy breathtaking view because Swallow Grotto is the narrowest part of Tarako Gorge.

Stop At: Cihmu Bridge, Xincheng Township Taiwan

Along Central Cross-Island Highway, after passing Jiuqudong (Tunnel of Nine Turns), you will arrive at Cimu Bridge(Motherly Devotion Bridge), which is an H-Shape hanging bridge with marble stone lions on each end and with marble lotus stones on two sides. The rock beneath the bridge looks like a frog. The frog-like rock is composed of black layer of schist at the top and white marble at the bottom. A pavilion was built on this frog rock, becoming the crown on the frog. This was built by late President Chiang Jing-guo, in memory of his mother, during construction of the road. Cimu pavilion area is on the east side of the bridge, built by late President Chiang Kai-shek, in memory of his mother, Mrs. Wang.
