About this activity
These lessons take place at Mile Marker 19 off Highway 30 (Honopi’ilani Highway), at a fantastic beginner and family surf spot just south of Lahaina town, called 'guardrails.' This secluded surf break is ideal for the beginner and intermediate surfer because of its gentle, sloping, long waves that break in clear water, close to the shore. It also has a white sandy beach with a generous amount of shade for family members or friends who wish to watch or snorkel along the beach during the lesson.

The 90-minute lesson will focus on water safety, proper surf technique, surfing style, and etiquette. Rest assured, students will be in the water almost immediately. These personalized surf lesson include a 10-to-15-minute water safety briefing, a demonstration on paddling techniques, tips on how to get into waves, and of course, how to stand and stay standing.

The guide will want students to feel as comfortable as possible on the surfboard prior to getting in the water and this briefing provides the time to ask any surfing related questions. After paddling out to the break together, the surf instructor will be there to coach and guide into the waves. Their focus in the water will be on safety as well as proper wave etiquette, surfing style, and technique.

All the necessary equipment like an SPF-50 rash guard, a brand-new, state-of-the-art soft-top board, and protective reef shoes are included.
