About this activity
Visit Monastiraki, the busiest square in town, Hadrian’s Library, the Roman Agora with the Tower of the Winds, the Fetihe Mosque and the Mendrese, the first Ottoman School. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along Plaka, the oldest neighborhood of Athens and visit the Ancient Agora, the heart of the city for almost eleven centuries. Enjoy a pleasant guided walk within the historical and the modern parts of the city like a local.
Right after the city walk we enter the Acropolis for a memorable tour. First we will explore the south slope of the hill which is of great religious and cultural significance. Dionysus, the god of wine and Asclepius, the god of medicine, were worshiped here. Dionysus Theater, where the ancient Greek drama was born, still preserved in the area. During our ascent to the hill we also visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. On the top we will admire the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion with the Porch of the Maidens. Acquire a deeper understanding of the little secrets of the Rock: visual corrections, colours, architectural masterpieces and the stories behind them.
